Understanding the importance of water

Stretching from Indian River County north to the Georgia border, the St. Johns River Water Management District spans nearly 13,000 square miles of springs, rivers, lakes and natural systems across 18 counties. Because no two parts of the region face the same opportunities and challenges, the District adopted a basin-focused planning approach in 2024 to better protect Florida's water resources.
